Evaluation Of Final Animation

Its done!!!!

and I actually don't hate it?

Olivia Talbot- OUIL503 Angela Carter Animation from Olivia Talbot on Vimeo.

What went well?

  • translating my prints from a 2D form into an animation worked surprisingly well
  • keeping the idea simple and letting other elements like the soundtrack help make the sting more dynamic
  • using minimal sound in the sting, just some atmospheric static sounds and Angelas own voice- which I was keen to include as I think she understands and explains herself better than anyone or any sound could do
  • the overall tone of voice of the sting- I've achieved something which I think feels nostalgic, evocative but with Angelas signature elusive edge
What could be better?
  • I feel I could have done more with the ending, maybe before or after having her name appear on screen I could have added another visual, or maybe focused on one of the individual animated elements
  • I could have got the imagery used in the sting and the audio to link more directly and specifically, in the clip she talks about being taken seriously because of her gender. Maybe I could have animated something relating more to her beliefs on equality?
  • Over complicating my ideas early on during the storyboarding process for the soundtrack. I overestimated how much time all the elements of sound would take up and therefore couldn't include them all
